Special Interest Jack Brown, W6EQH (sk) Roosevelt High School, 1946-1953

Roosevelt High School, 1946-1953

JB went on to teach at Roosevelt High School in 1946 in the Boyle Heights neighborhood east of downtown LA. Jack was an alum of Roosevelt. Back at Roosevelt, he taught: Ron Greenberg, W6AEK, Larry Wolfe, W6BNN, Keith Fowler, W6BCQ and others who are either sk or not in touch with Jack's alumni group anymore. JB was getting kids licensed but still did not have a license himself. Larry, Ron and Keith nagged JB into getting a license, W6EQH. The three of them still have a sked ever week.

As Hugh, W6WTU tells it, Jack got a license to serve as an example for his students. Jack was not an active ham. He was an electronics teacher who used ham radio to teach electronics.

JB also taught Ed Peltzman in electric shop who later became a ham, KA6SWA. JB did not have a ham club at Roosevelt but did teach CW in electric shop. Ernest Szajowitz was taught by Jack both at Roosevelt and Hami.
