(Formerly WN4CMS, 1972)

I was formerly WA4CMS.  That call sign was assigned to me in 1974 after I upgraded to General Class (from Novice Class).  I was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, and that’s where I was when I was first licensed.   I received my Novice license a few days before Christmas of 1972, and my original call sign was WN4CMS.

My father, Phil, W4EWR, was instrumental in encouraging me and a couple of my friends in Knoxville to study for our licenses and to get on the air.
